A Fuller Life

The documentary is built out of readings from the memoirs of the director Samuel Fuller. Those who read are people who knew him or who care about his work. Among them are James Franco, Jennifer Beals, Bill Duke, Wim Wenders and Constance Towers. The text comes straight from what Fuller himself wrote. So the film uses no outside narrator; his own sentences carry the voice. That is where the work parts from an ordinary documentary. The readings are passed around among people from the film business. It gives Fuller’s relation to that business in his own words. It was directed by Fuller’s only child, Samantha Fuller. The eighty minute American documentary was completed in 2013.
