A Great Wall

Leo Fang works as a computer programmer in San Francisco. When the promotion he expected does not come, he puts it down to being Chinese and quits. He gathers up his family and goes to China to stay with his relatives. It is his first return to his homeland in thirty years. The life they built in America and the life of his relatives collide at every step. The men, the women and the teenagers each meet that difference in their own way. What comes of it is misunderstanding and comedy. The film is the first American feature shot in the People’s Republic of China. Peter Wang wrote, directed and took the lead in this ninety seven minute Chinese and American coproduction of 1986.
