A Less Bad World

A woman learns that the husband she believed dead for more than twenty years is living in a small coastal town. She goes there with the daughter who never knew her father, and the two of them try to bring his memory back and give him a family again. Alejandro Agresti does not build it as a reunion; he shows that someone returning after twenty years has not really returned, and that the gap does not close. Sources tie the film to Argentina’s years of the disappeared, and once that ground is visible the missing husband carries a very different weight. Philippe Sarde wrote the music and José Luis Cajaraville shot it. Carlos Roffé, Mónica Galán and Julieta Cardinali take the parts. It opened on 30 September 2004 and is also known as Todo el bien del mundo. The single sentence in the record says nothing of that context.
