What A Map For Saturday Is About
On a trip around the world every day feels like Saturday. Brook Silva-Braga left his job at HBO and set out with five pounds of clothes and thirty pounds of camera equipment, spending eleven months recording people travelling alone across twenty-six countries on four continents. The documentary stops with backpackers working where nobody else came after the tsunami in Thailand, in the empty guesthouses of Nepal, and at the red lights in Brazil that nobody obeys. What it is really following is the emotional curve: what the road turns into as it lengthens, and when the loneliness starts. It was finished in 2007.
