What A Respectable Life Is About
Ten years on, Stefan Jarl went back to the same young men. The combative air of the first film has gone and something else has taken its place: Kenta has lost to drink and is barely holding on with his girlfriend and their son, Stoffe has been taken by heroin, put out of his home and left living with his mother. The last meeting between the two friends ends in a falling out. Stoffe died of an overdose while the film was being shot, and the documentary did not hide it. A hard question about who was left behind in the welfare state; it won best film and best director at the Guldbagge awards.
