A Woman Captured

Marish is a woman of fifty two. She lives in Hungary. For ten years she has worked in a family’s house. She is kept at it twenty hours a day. She is not paid for the work. Her identity papers were taken from her. She cannot leave the house without permission. What she eats is what is left over. She has no bed. Her days pass in fear. She still holds on to something, which is getting her life back. The documentary stays with her for a long time, with the camera inside the house, following the road she takes towards her freedom, until Marish makes a decision. Bernadett Tuza-Ritter made the eighty nine minute documentary, a German and Hungarian production finished in 2017.
