What About Scout Is About
A rebellious girl who dresses goth sets out across Texas to find her missing younger sister. With her is a young man who is thinking about ending his own life; the two of them are in the same car, one travelling in order to live and one in order to give up. Laurie Weltz uses the shape of a road movie without telling a cheerful escape story; what she films is two young people keeping each other upright without realising it. India Ennenga leads, with Ellen Burstyn and Danny Glover. It does not tie the ending to an easy comfort.
