Adaminte Makan Abu

Abu, a poor seller of perfumes, lives with his wife. The one wish of both of them is to make the pilgrimage to Mecca, and they are set on doing it out of their own earnings without owing anyone. Saving takes a long time; meanwhile there is less to sell, health troubles appear, and offers of help from neighbours test their pride. The film does not build a story of a religious journey; what it really tells is the cost of staying honest and how an old couple holds on to each other. The account is quiet and slow, moving through small decisions rather than large events. Salim Kumar and Zarina Wahab appear in Salim Ahamed’s hundred and four minute Indian film, completed in 2011.
