The documentary follows the path plastic has taken over the last hundred years: from styrofoam cups to artificial organs, no invented material has ever been this ubiquitous, and that progress has come at a cost. Ian Connacher filmed for three years in twelve countries across five continents and travelled twice to the middle of the Pacific, to the stretch of ocean where plastic accumulates. The film does not stop at pollution and toxicity; it puts the search for solutions to experts as well, from recycling through to plastics made from plants. The eighty five minute Canadian production won best international documentary at the international environmental film festival in Barcelona in 2009 and took the audience award at the Amazonas Film Festival in Brazil.
