What Adjust Your Tracking: The Untold Story of the VHS Collector Is About
At a point when VHS was supposed to be dead, hundreds of people were still collecting tapes. This documentary walks into their houses, their basements and their shelves, and talks to more than a hundred collectors, filmmakers and former video store owners. The subject is not only nostalgia: some of the films on those shelves were never released digitally and exist nowhere else. Dan M. Kinem and Levi Peretic, who directed it together, do not hide the obsessive side of collecting either. The fact that the most sought-after tape in the community is a 1987 title called Tales from the QuadeaD Zone says something about how far this goes. The money came from Kickstarter, where anyone giving ten dollars or more was credited as an executive producer, and more than eighty people took that offer.
