Adriana's Pact

The director’s favourite aunt Adriana lives in Australia. In 2007, on a visit to her family in Chile, she is arrested; the charge is that she worked inside the secret police during the dictatorship and took part in crimes committed by the state. Adriana denies all of it. The director then begins to look into her aunt’s story and to make a documentary about her, but the more she looks the more the questions turn back towards the family itself. The film does not settle a charge; it tells how one family lives with that question. The director puts her own curiosity inside the account as well; the person holding the camera is also a party to the question being asked. As the documentary goes on, the distance widens between what the aunt says and what the documents say. Lissette Orozco’s ninety four minute Chilean documentary was completed in 2017.
