What After You Is About
Antoine works in a bar and, on his way home, cuts down a man trying to hang himself. Then a strange guilt takes hold: having saved him, he feels obliged to fix his life as well. Louis has only one concern, Blanche, the woman he lost, so Antoine sets out to find her without telling him. The comedy comes from the point at which wanting to help someone turns into overriding them completely. Pierre Salvadori gets through it without making anyone ridiculous. Daniel Auteuil is one of the best actors alive for this kind of part.
