What Pokkiri Is About

Pokkiri opened on January 12, 2007, ran for over 200 days in Tamil Nadu, and grossed roughly 750 million rupees worldwide, breaking the record set by Rajinikanth's Chandramukhi at the time and becoming Vijay's biggest box office success up to that point. The film was itself a Tamil remake of the 2006 Telugu film Pokiri, and was in turn remade as Porki in Kannada and as Wanted in Hindi, starring Salman Khan. Who it's for: anyone curious about a record breaking Vijay film that was itself adapted from a Telugu original and then remade again in Kannada and Hindi. Who it's not for: viewers wanting an original story that stayed in a single language, since this is part of a multi language remake chain.
