Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo

Bantu is a young man constantly belittled by his father, whose work is never good enough. Then he learns the truth: he was swapped at birth in hospital with the baby of a wealthy family, and his real parents are elsewhere. Without telling anyone he moves into that household and tries to fix it from inside. Trivikram Srinivas runs family melodrama, comedy and action in one vessel, at the usual dosage of Telugu mainstream cinema. Allu Arjun plays it relaxed and sardonic, and the dance sequences became the most discussed part. The idea is not class but belonging: what the man wants is not an inheritance but for his own father to approve of him once. It was a large box office success. Who it is for: viewers who like Telugu family films and high-tempo commercial cinema. Who it is not for: anyone after realism, since the plot rests on coincidence throughout.
