Son of Satyamurthy

After his father's death Viraj learns about the man's enormous debts. His family suggests renouncing the inheritance; he refuses and decides to pay everything to keep his father's name clean. To do it he has to marry into a wealthy family. Trivikram Srinivas wrote and directed. Allu Arjun plays Viraj, Samantha his love interest, with Nithya Menen, Upendra and Rajendra Prasad in the cast. The film runs the Telugu mainstream template: family honour, debt, romance and a large wedding. Trivikram's writing is again dialogue-driven, and the most quoted parts of the film are its lines. Allu Arjun's dance sequences carry its commercial force and the songs stayed on regional charts a long time. It did large business, though critics wrote that the script falls apart in the second half and that the running time is needlessly long. Who it is for: viewers who like the mainstream cinema Telugu families watch. Who it is not for: anyone wanting tight plotting; the film is long and repetitive.
