A building in central Madrid. There is a residents' meeting and the item is simple: will the lift be replaced. The argument starts over the budget. Then a neighbour offers a piece of information: one of the empty flats has been let and the tenant is someone with mental health problems. The subject of the meeting changes. Nobody objects directly; everyone has a reason. Security, insurance, the children, the value of the flats. There will be a vote. Some of the people in the room end up having to tell their own story. Santiago Requejo directs. Raúl Fernández de Pablo, Clara Lago, Tito Valverde and Gonzalo de Castro are in the cast. It is a Spanish production. The film opened in Spain on 12 June 2025. It was developed from the director's short film of 2021; that short won more than a hundred awards worldwide, was nominated for a Goya and made the Oscar shortlist. The matter it treats is prejudice about mental health; the film gives it not through a speech but through the minutes of a meeting. The narrative takes place in one location and almost entirely in one room. The characters are not of one type; the person who seems ill intentioned later says something else. The narrative puts no side easily in the right and does not leave the decision to the viewer either. The film does not hide its stage origin; the narrative rests on talk. Its limit is form; the narrative is like theatre, the pace low, and the argument explicit. Who it is for: viewers who like Spanish cinema and single location argument films. Who it is not for: it is confined, weighted to talk, and the ending didactic.
