Amrapali

The emperor Ajaatshatru sets out on a campaign. The campaign ends in failure. He does not give up and tries another way. He slips into the enemy army disguised as a soldier. His aim is to weaken them from inside. In the city he enters he meets someone. The woman’s name is Amrapali. She is a court attendant held in high regard. She is known for her beauty and her art. The emperor falls in love with her. He keeps from her who he is. So he is caught between two things. On one side the campaign, on the other this woman. In the end he has to choose. Vyjayanthimala and Sunil Dutt appear in the hundred and twenty one minute film, an Indian production Lekh Tandon finished in 1966.
