What Andy Murray: Resurfacing Is About
The documentary follows Andy Murray through the injury years between 2017 and 2019. The camera goes into the operating theatre and into his house, recording the player at his most fragile, including the stretch when he believed his career was finished. After a first-round defeat at the 2019 Australian Open, the emotional press conference he gave read to almost everyone as a farewell to tennis. Hip resurfacing surgery followed, and the film takes its title from it. What it describes is not only a physical repair; the cost the sport exacted from his body and his mental health takes up just as much room. Olivia Cappuccini’s film was released in November 2019.
