What Class Action Park Is About
There was a water park in New Jersey called Action Park where, through the eighties, almost no safety rule applied: rides that dumped you onto concrete, a slide with a full loop, pools that gave people shocks, and drunk teenage staff. The documentary begins as nostalgic comedy, with former visitors laughing through their injury stories. Then it changes register and gives time to the people who died there, particularly the family of a boy who was lost. That turn is the film's best decision, because it shows at whose expense the funny version was assembled. The owner and the way the place was run are the second subject. Who it is for: viewers who like eighties nostalgia and true stories about negligence. Who it is not for: anyone wanting only the nostalgia, since the second half turns heavy.
