Antifa: Skinhead Hunters

The documentary is about the young groups that organised against the neo nazi skinhead subculture in Paris. Because they took them on directly in the street, these groups came to be called skinhead hunters. The film rests on their own accounts and takes up the street violence of those years, the front line drawn neighbourhood by neighbourhood, and the mark the whole business left on people’s lives. The account speaks from a side and does not hide it; it is worth watching in the knowledge of where it is looking from. What the documentary is most useful for is the reminder that the fight over who the street belongs to was an everyday matter there. Marc-Aurele Vecchione’s sixty five minute French documentary was completed in 2008.
