Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters

A carton of fries, a meatball and a milkshake live together in a house in New Jersey. Their neighbour hates them. One day a piece of exercise equipment appears; it talks, declares itself indestructible and wants to take over the world. At the same time two beings from space and a scientist get involved. The narrative follows no chain of logic and says so openly. Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis write and direct. It is the cinema version of the television series of the same name. The series is an adult animation of eleven minute episodes shown late at night; its humour is built on nonsense and narrative consistency is deliberately refused. The film carries that structure to eighty minutes and keeps the method: the origins it explains contradict each other, characters die and return, and no event has a consequence. The opening is its best known passage, built as a musical number about the rules of a cinema. It was made for viewers of the series; there is no entry point from outside. Its limit is length; the eleven minute rhythm thins out at feature length. Who it is for: viewers of the series and anyone who likes humour built on nonsense. Who it is not for: there is no narrative, the humour serves a very particular taste, and the film is entirely closed to anyone who does not know the series.
