What Artifact Is About
The documentary follows the band 30 Seconds to Mars wrestling with a thirty million dollar lawsuit from their record label while recording an album, and shows what the contract system of the music industry leaves to the artist. The studio, the meetings with lawyers and the numbers sit side by side. But one thing should be known going in, and neither summary says it: the film was directed by the band's singer, Jared Leto, so he is telling the story of his own lawsuit. The subject is real and important, the account is partisan.
