In a rural part of Pennsylvania a drive-in cinema is about to close. A digital projector costs fifty thousand dollars and the place has no such money. So a group of film enthusiasts takes another road. They decide to show only old thirty five millimetre prints. Everyone works without pay. The film follows one season and the problems that season brings. The account keeps clear of nostalgia and shows the work itself. The eighty minutes are given to a single cinema. What it costs to keep an old way of showing films alive sits at the centre of the account. Jeff Mattox and Virgil Cardamone appear in Alexander Monelli’s American documentary, completed in 2017.
