What Autumn Sun Is About
Clara Goldstein, a middle aged Jewish woman, wants to appear to have built a suitable life because her brother is coming to visit from America, and she places a newspaper advertisement looking for a man of her own faith. Raúl, who answers it, is polite, pleasant and well spoken, but he is not Jewish; with no other option, Clara starts giving him an intensive course in Judaism. As the effort at pretence goes on, both of them realise it has become more than a performance, and two mature people take one last risk. In Eduardo Mignogna’s hundred and ten minute Argentine film, Norma Aleandro plays Clara and Federico Luppi plays Raúl. It was completed in 1996.
