What The Lighthouse Is About
Two Argentine sisters lose their mother in a car crash, and the elder one, Memé, comes out of it lame with a badly scarred leg. Orphaned, they are taken in by their aunts, and they bicker without ever being able to come apart. Memé is working as a waitress when she meets Andy, and the more of a life she builds for herself the more strained things get with her sister. Eduardo Mignogna treats growing up not as one clean loss but as two people carrying the same grief at different speeds. The film brought Ricardo Darín and Norma Aleandro together and won the Goya for the best foreign film in Spanish.
