What Honey Is About
Yusuf has just started school and cannot read aloud in class; the only person he speaks to easily is his father, and even then in a whisper. His father Yakup keeps bees in the eastern Black Sea forests, in hives set high in the trees. When the bees vanish he has to go further out, and does not come back, so the boy goes into the forest to look for him. Semih Kaplanoglu uses almost no music and leaves the soundtrack to the forest. This is the last film of the Yusuf trilogy but the earliest in his life; the series runs backwards. It won the Golden Bear in 2010.
