An Indian film about a life collapsing after an accusation. An ageing television star is accused of sexual assault. Before the case is resolved his life falls apart: his programme is cancelled, the people around him withdraw, and the public has already decided. The narrative takes place largely in prison. There he contends with other inmates, with his own defence and with how he is seen. What the film is interested in is not whether he is guilty but the second process of judgment that runs before the law reaches a conclusion: the verdict of the media, of social networks and of the people around him. That argument has been running in India in recent years and the film goes straight into it. Bobby Deol leads; Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Raj B. Shetty and Indrajith Sukumaran are among the cast. Anurag Kashyap directed. The production states that it was inspired by real events. It played first at the Toronto festival, opened in cinemas in 2026 and was released on a streaming service the same summer. A hard example for anyone who likes Indian independent cinema and films that enter contested territory. For a viewer expecting a clear side, the film does not resolve the matter and leaves it in an uncomfortable uncertainty.
