Return Of Hanuman

An animated film made in India. The gods are watching the world from above and are not pleased: people do not treat each other well and children are learning the wrong things. They make a decision; Hanuman will be sent to earth again, but this time as a child. He is born in a village as a boy named Maruti. He has power: he can fly, he is very strong and he can grow to any size he wants. But he behaves like a small child. He goes to school. He makes a friend there; the boy is weak and the others pick on him. Maruti solves such problems in his own way. At the same time a being hostile to the gods is set free and is heading for the village. The language of the film is aimed at children: the jokes are simple, the plot is plain and the lessons are given directly. The narrative is built on friendship, standing up to bullying and telling the truth. It was made as a sequel to an earlier animation and is one of the few examples of Indian animated cinema. Anurag Kashyap directed; he is known mostly for crime films for adults, and this is an unusual work for him. A suitable choice for anyone interested in family animation and characters from Indian mythology. For a viewer expecting technically advanced animation, the production stays plain within its means.
