Bear-Like

Roman Droux had carried a dream since childhood. That dream came true in Alaska. He went to the far end of the peninsula. The bear researcher David Bittner went with him. The two of them entered the world of wild grizzlies. They got close enough to the bears to smell them. They watched a bear family’s struggle to survive. They witnessed hard fighting between animals as well. The camera sees all of it from inside rather than at a distance. The film is trying to be more than a nature documentary. The story is built as a personal one. The wish to see the unknown is what drives it. The images are wide and striking. David Bittner appears in the ninety seven minute documentary, a Swiss and American co-production Roman Droux finished in 2019.
