Beatles '64

February 1964, and the Beatles land in New York. Thousands of young people are waiting at the airport. Within ten days they will appear on The Ed Sullivan Show, play in Washington, and stand in front of crowds nothing in America had prepared anyone for. The documentary tells those ten days through the behind-the-scenes footage David and Albert Maysles shot at the time, now restored. David Tedeschi directs and Martin Scorsese produced, with new interviews from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Fans who were waiting at that airport were tracked down and interviewed too. It is less about how the fame was built overnight than about what that moment looked like from inside it.
