What Beautiful People Is About
London, October 1993. England are playing Holland in a World Cup qualifier, the war in Bosnia is at its worst, and refugees from the former Yugoslavia are arriving in the city. Two enemies who meet on a bus, two wounded men in neighbouring hospital beds, four English families with nothing in common: everyone takes something from the encounter. Jasmin Dizdar tells the story of the war in his own country from inside the ordinary life of London, with comedy and with anger at once. The film won the prize for best film in Un Certain Regard at Cannes.
