Becoming Chaz

The documentary follows Chaz Bono’s gender transition. The camera stays with him through the process. The decision itself and what comes after are inside the account. Conversations are held with members of the family. His friends are spoken to as well. Those conversations show different sides of the process. His mother Cher appears in the film too. The account puts one personal story at the centre. The camera watches without stepping in. What the change means in daily life is inside the film as well. The work is put together as a documentary. Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato’s American documentary of 2011 runs eighty minutes.
