Between Calmness and Passion

Junsei is at art school. He is quiet and measured. Aoi is the opposite, quicker to act. The two of them meet as students. Something starts between them. Then they make a promise. They will meet again in ten years. The place is the cathedral in Florence. Ten years pass. Junsei is restoring paintings in Italy. Aoi’s life has gone somewhere else entirely, and neither of them has forgotten the promise. The story rests on two novels published in 1999, one written by Hitonari Tsuji from the man’s side and the other by Kaori Ekuni from the woman’s. Shooting took place in Japan and in Italy. Yutaka Takenouchi and Kelly Chen Hui-Lin appear in the hundred and twenty five minute film, a Japanese and Italian production Isamu Nakae finished in 2001.
