Rosa Moline is married to the doctor of a small town in Wisconsin. She hates the town and she hates her husband; what she wants is Chicago, money and a different life. When a rich man from the city tells her to divorce and marry him, the only obstacle left in front of her is her own life. It does not take long to find out how far Rosa will go to get past it. King Vidor directs, with Bette Davis as Rosa; it was the film that ended her long relationship with Warner Bros. One of Davis's lines in it went on to become among the most quoted in American cinema.
