Blind

Ruben, who lost his sight as a child, is an angry young man living with his mother in a mansion and letting no one near him. His mother hires Marie to read to him; she has albinism, her confidence is broken and her voice is beautiful. Through the books read aloud and the tales told, an unexpected closeness forms between them, because Ruben knows her voice but not her face. When the possibility of Ruben seeing arises, a hard question opens for both of them. Tamar van den Dop’s hundred and three minute Dutch film is her first feature; Joren Seldeslachts plays Ruben and Halina Reijn plays Marie, with Jan Decleir in the cast. It was completed in 2007.
