Blood of My Blood

On the outskirts of Lisbon an ordinary family lives: a mother, her sister, a son and a daughter. The flat is small, the budget is tight, everyone is on top of everyone else. Over the course of one week a run of events shakes that arrangement beyond repair; a relationship the daughter has been hiding, something the son has got mixed up in, and the mother's attempt to save all of them go off at the same time. João Canijo shoots it almost like a documentary; the camera moves through narrow corridors, the talk overlaps, nobody finishes a sentence. The kitchen table is both the only meeting place and the only battlefield. The telling judges nobody; it shows where class wedges a person, and how even love turns into a weight. Rita Blanco and Beatriz Batarda carry the cast.
