Blood on the Mountain

The documentary is about the coal region of West Virginia and the people who live there. Its case is that those people have never had a fair share of the rich natural resources of their own land. Because the economy was never diversified, control by outside companies with no restraint on them became permanent; that assessment is the documentary’s own. The account also draws a direct line between those companies and the politicians. Damage to the environment and safety at work are given as two faces of the same matter. The film argues that what happens here is a warning for all American workers. What the miners and their families say themselves makes up the body of the text. The ninety three minute American documentary by Jordan Freeman and Mari-Lynn C. Evans was completed in 2016.
