Born in 68

In Paris in 1968, Catherine, Yves and Hervé are twenty; they are students and all three love each other. The events of May change their lives at the root. Chasing a shared utopia, they leave the city with a few friends and settle into an abandoned farm in the Lot. In time the desire for freedom and the desire for each of them to build a life of their own collide, and the paths separate. Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau, who directed it together, run almost three hours and spread it across forty years: four decades on, the children of the same people are dealing with different questions and the same house carries different meanings. The directors neither glorify nor belittle the generation of sixty-eight; they show that sharing an ideal and sharing a life are not the same thing. Laetitia Casta is at the centre.
