Boys Will Be Boys

Three friends grow up in a small town: Tomás, Hubert and Jozka. Tomás lives with his aunt Apolena and his uncle Václav. The ideas that come into his head keep dragging him into trouble, and he falls out with his teachers, his aunt and even the rest of the town. When he takes a liking to his schoolmate Blanka, he decides to be chosen best pupil in the school for her sake. The film sets the world of children against the rules of adults without making an enemy of anyone. The town itself stands almost as a character of its own. That mischief and good intention cannot be told apart is the real subject. Michael Dymek and Petr Voříšek appear in Věra Plívová-Šimková’s ninety minute Czechoslovak film, completed in 1976.
