Bwakaw

Rene is a retired man in his seventies. He lives in a small town in the Philippines. He is gruff and keeps away from people. All he has beside him is his dog. The dog is called Bwakaw. Rene hid the fact that he was gay for his whole life. Only at this age can he say it openly. He lives like a man waiting for his death. He has even bought himself a coffin. One day the funeral parlour calls him to come and collect it. That call sets him thinking. He weighs up the years he has behind him. Then something he did not expect happens. It is not he who falls ill but his dog. The film tells of death, of loneliness and of an admission that came late. Eddie Garcia and Rez Cortez appear in the hundred and ten minute film, a Philippine production Jun Robles Lana finished in 2012.
