What Camarón: The Film Is About
The documentary tells the life of Camarón de la Isla, the best known voice in flamenco. Raised in a poor Roma family in San Fernando, the singer changed traditional flamenco with his own voice and through his partnership with Paco de Lucía; in some quarters that change met with great anger and the argument went on for years. The film tells that transformation, the long friendship between the two men and the singer’s early death in 1992 through footage not published before. The narrator of Alexis Morante’s hundred and four minute Spanish documentary is Juan Diego. It was completed in 2018 and sets out to find the person behind the legend.
