Captain America: Civil War

A film in which the team splits in two. Civilians are killed during an operation. In response, governments prepare an accord: from now on the team acts with a panel's permission. Tony signs. Steve does not. At the same time a meeting is bombed and Bucky appears in the footage. Steve tries to find him before the people hunting him do. From there the film is a chase and a division. Everyone picks a side and the two groups meet at an airport. That section is the most enjoyable part. Nobody is trying to kill anybody, they all know each other, and they fight while making jokes. What the narrative is interested in is not politics but a personal matter: in the last half hour the film sets the accord aside and finishes in a room with three people in it. The information in that room is the real conflict, and Tony's reaction is neither justified nor condemned. The villain raises no army and is not trying to destroy the world. All he does is find a file and show it at the right moment. Two characters enter the series in this film. One is a king, the other a very young boy, and both quickly move to the centre of their own stories. The airport sequence was shot in Leipzig, in Germany. Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Holland, Paul Rudd and Daniel Brühl are in the cast. Anthony and Joe Russo directed. Who it is for: anyone following the series; the film pays them back. Who it is not for: anyone starting here; the narrative assumes five films of knowledge and introduces almost none of its characters.
