Spider-Man: Far From Home

A film set after the previous great event. The world is only just recovering. Half of everyone came back and those who returned lost five years; at school it is a joke. Peter is tired. He is expected to fill the place of the person he lost and does not want to; all he wants is to go on a school trip and say something to MJ. They go to Europe. A water creature appears in Venice and a man stops it. Beck introduces himself as someone from another universe. He says there are four elemental creatures, that they destroyed his world, and that they will do the same here. From there the film is a chase. Prague, Berlin and London. What the narrative is interested in is not creatures but image: the information in the middle changes everything, and the subject becomes not a hero but how a presentation is produced. The illusion sequence is the best part. Peter is lost inside layers of false images and the section is shot almost as horror. Beck's team is the cleverest idea in it; all of them are former employees and their grievances are about work. The school trip carries the humour and the teachers exist entirely for comedy. There are two additional scenes in the credits and the first changes the character's life completely. It was shot in Venice, Prague, London and Liberec. Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jake Gyllenhaal, Samuel L. Jackson, Jon Favreau and Marisa Tomei are in the cast. Jon Watts directed. Who it is for: anyone following the series who wants a light holiday film. Who it is not for: anyone looking for a standalone story; the narrative is tightly bound to earlier films.
