A three-part television film from the Odessa Film Studio, adapted loosely from three Jules Verne novels, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, The Mysterious Island and The Steam House. A frigate sets out to find and destroy it, with the French professor Pierre Aronnax among those aboard. After more than three months the monster is located, the fight goes badly, the ship goes down, and Aronnax, his servant Conseil and the whaler Ned Land find themselves inside a submarine instead.
