Carmine Street Guitars

The documentary takes place in a guitar shop in New York. The shop is in Greenwich Village. It is called Carmine Street Guitars. The account covers five days. Rick Kelly owns the place. He builds the guitars with his own hands. The wood comes out of demolished New York buildings. Old pine pulled from those sites is the material he works with. His apprentice Cindy Hulej works beside him and builds her own. Musicians come by through the day. Jim Jarmusch is one of them. Lenny Kaye, Bill Frisell and Nels Cline come in as well, and the talk happens across the workbench. Ron Mann directed the eighty six minute documentary, a Canadian production finished in 2018.
