Robert Leacock's 1995 documentary follows one spring fashion season through Milan, Paris and New York, with the model Christy Turlington at its centre. The documentary shows what is behind the runway. Fittings, hair and the hours of waiting are recorded at length; the narrative gives a show as a working day rather than an event, and the models' exhaustion stays in the frame. Azzedine Alaïa and Giorgio Armani appear. The camera is handheld and uninterfering, close to the direct cinema method of the period. There is no narrator.
