Chain of Events

A clerk tries to avoid paying his bus fare. The sum he dodges is a very small one. But that small evasion sets off consequences nobody foresaw. Events set off other events and the man walks into a steadily worse corner. The film builds this not as a moral lesson but as a chain. How far a small lie can travel is the real idea. It is one of the short features of British cinema in 1958. The sixty two minutes are used for that single chain. Dermot Walsh and Susan Shaw take the leads, with Lisa Gastoni and Jack Watling also in the cast. Gerald Thomas’s British film was completed in 1958.
