Chez Nous

Chez Nous is the name of a gay café in the middle of Amsterdam. The café is on the point of closing and its regulars will not accept it. While each of them deals with their own trouble, keeping the place open becomes shared work. The film tells this as a feel good comedy. The café is a meeting place and also a shelter. The account keeps the matter among people rather than drowning it in big statements. What the closing of a place means to those who gather there sits at the centre of the story. The ninety seven minutes are given to that effort to save it. Alex Klaasen, Achmed Akkabi and Thomas Acda appear in Tim Oliehoek’s Dutch film, completed in 2013.
