What Chris Claremont's X-Men Is About
The documentary is about the long stretch of work the comics writer Chris Claremont did on the X-Men. The period in which he wrote that title ran unusually long. The film looks at how the characters were developed behind the scenes. Wolverine, Storm and Phoenix are at the front of those. The second subject of the account is the difficulty of making work inside a corporate structure. The freedom in a writer’s hands and what the company expects are constantly set against each other. Alongside Claremont, the work talks to other figures from the field, among them Jason Aaron and Ann Nocenti. Patrick Meaney’s American documentary, seventy minutes long, was completed in 2018.
