What Chris the Swiss Is About
On the seventh of January 1992, in the middle of the war in Croatia, the body of a young journalist is found wearing the uniform of an international mercenary unit. Twenty years later his cousin begins looking into his story: why he went there, how he came to wear that uniform and what exactly he was doing when he died. The documentary uses archive footage, testimony and animated passages together; what is unknown is told through drawing. The account reaches no conclusion and says that it does not; what it really shows is a family living with a question that has no answer. Anja Kofmel’s ninety minute documentary was completed in 2018.
